Pawfolio // Ordering & Pricing // Photo Reference Guide // About the Artist
Ready to commission me to draw your pet baby? Have questions before you order? No problem. You can reach out directly to my email, pawfectionbycraig@gmail.com or use the form below. If you’d like to chat via phone, add your phone number in the message and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
Currently I am keeping things simple and offering black and white head and chest portrait drawings at one size only: 11 x 14 inches for $600. For 2 pets in the same drawing, the cost is $750. Please contact me to discuss other requests (full body, more than 2 pets, etc.).
Eventually in the future I hope to add additional options (e.g. a lower priced style option, color, digital, etc).
Prices do not include framing. If you are located in or near Chicago area, whenever possible I will hand deliver final drawings. However, if shipping is required, I will cover up to $20 dollars of the cost. Any additional costs will be the client’s responsibility.
1) A $50 (refundable) deposit is required to reserve your spot on my commission list.
2) Once I am ready to begin your pet’s portrait, 50% of the full cost will be required. Please understand that once I begin your drawing, this payment will not be refundable.
3) Upon completion, I will send a digital photo for your final approval*. Once approved, the remaining 50% will be due prior to delivery, along with any shipping costs greater than $20.
*Please note, I will also ask you to approve final reference photo as well as the line drawing before I begin adding tone and details. I will also share some in-progress photos.
Currently I can accept payments via Venmo, Paypal or Zelle. Personal checks can also be used for payment if you prefer. (But please no cryptocurrency). Info will be provided when you sign up for commission.
To ensure you get the best portrait of your pet, one of the most important things is providing good photo reference(s) for me to work from. Good quality means a few different things: sharpness, point-of-view, lighting and capturing your pet’s personality and character.
Don’t worry, we’re not talking about professional photography-level stuff. In fact, while using a digital camera if you have one is best, a good camera phone will work fine. You may already have the perfect photo or you may need to take new ones—just remember the more photographs you send me the better. There’s always a chance I will reach out to request you take and/or send additional photos.
Of course if your pets have passed we will work with the photos you can provide. As I have done in the past, I will sometimes use multiple photos and/or combine some features in photoshop to create the best reference possible. In all cases, I will get your signoff on the final reference I plan to use before beginning your drawing.
Please note, I cannot take a commission if I don’t feel I have the quality of photo reference needed.
