I am a creative. An art director. A part-time writer. A creative director. I create advertising. Marketing communications. Online. Offline. Traditional and the not-so-traditional. I can think strategically, develop brand positionings, create briefs and lead. I am a creative and damn proud of it.
I am an inclusionist. I don’t believe creative is the domain of a department. A great idea is a great idea no matter where or whom it comes from. I promote an environment that fosters inclusion. Among teams, between departments and with clients. I want to bring out the creative in all of us.
I am a realist. Not an optimist. Not a pessimist. A realist. I recognize the limitations; budgets, time, risk-aversion to name a few. But see these as challenges to achieving greatness, not immovable barriers.
I am curious. I question. I poke and prod. Strategies. Briefs. Research learnings. Creative ideas. Clients. I listen. But don’t always accept the answers. I don’t believe “reaching consensus” is a solution. I push for the real answers and get others to do the same.
I am active. Proactive whenever possible. Reactive when necessary. I get it done. Fast. Insightfully. Smart. No matter what the assignment, brand or media. I can be counted on to deliver.
I am evolving. Always looking to learn and teach others. I don’t accept the status quo. I embrace change. I research it. I want to understand it, use it and help others to do the same.
I am serious. But not to a fault. I have an incredible work ethic, but also believe in having fun. I like to make people laugh. I believe humor is a great stress reliever. I believe being funny is serious business.
I am honest. Trustworthy. Ethical. Qualities that sometimes seem less valued than they should be. I believe in taking responsibility and being a good and fair partner to all whom I work with. I believe success should never come at the expense of others.
I am an ad guy. I believe in what we do. That we can make people act. Create brand loyalty. Connect emotionally. But that we can’t do this by sticking to the tried and true. I believe we need to redefine, rethink and reestablish what it means to be an ad guy.
I am a leader. A champion of great ideas. A mentor. I can inspire and motivate. I can build trust and be counted on to deliver.
